Comrades entries pouring in for 2019
The entry process will close on 10 December or as soon as the cap of 25 000 has been reached
NEVER in the history of the Comrades Marathon have entries been snapped up as quickly as they are going for next year’s ‘Up Run’.
On Friday, the first day entries were accepted, more than 15 000 entries were received and the total already stood at over 19 000 after the first three days.
The entry process will close on 10 December or as soon as the cap of 25 000 has been reached.
Prospective entrants are encouraged to get their entries in early to avoid disappointment, considering that entries were sold out within three weeks for the 2018 race.
Entry fees for the 2019 Comrades Marathon are R600 for South Africans, R1 500 for African and SADC countries and R3 800 for other international runners.

Criteria
Comrades Marathon Association Race Director, Rowyn James says, ‘Qualifying for the 2019 Comrades Marathon is applicable as of 26 August 2018 to 2 May 2019.’
The qualifying criteria for Comrades will be to complete a standard 42.2km marathon in under 4 hours and 50 minutes, or a 56km ultra-marathon in under 6 hours and 45 minutes.
The 94th Comrades Marathon will be raced on Sunday, 9 June and starts at the Durban City Hall at 5.30am and ends 12 hours later at the Scottsville Race Course.
Exciting developments for the 2019 race are the introduction of the Isavel Roche-Kelly and the Robert Mtshali Medals, as well as increased prize money for the top seven finishers.
How to enter
Runners can enter online using the Comrades Marathon website or app www.comrades.com; or by posting their completed entry form with proof of payment to CMA Office PO Box 100621, Scottsville, 3209; or by handing in their completed entry form together with payment at Comrades House, 18 Connaught Road, Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg.
