Traditional dance (shemen) competition in Mtunzini

DO you have talent in the traditional Zulu dance and want to showcase your gift to Zululand?

Get ready for the 1st annual Shemen Dance Festival and Competition at eMabhawuzini sports ground in Obanjeni area outside Mtunzini on Saturday.

Traditional groups, both male and female, of all ages are welcome to be part of the festival and stand a chance to win great prizes including the overall cash prize.

This community initiative is headed by Bheki Qwabe, with the sole purpose of highlighting traditional dance and offering exposure to dancers around the region.

‘Young people forget about their roots and adopt the western culture, so this event is to ensure young people are aware of their culture and to give those who have groups a platform to showcase their talent,’ said Qwabe.
