Two suspects nabbed with illegal firearms

A 56-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Nkodibe area last week.

uMkhanyakude Police Cluster spokesman, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, said police followed up on a tip-off, directing them to a homestead in Nkodibe.

‘After a preliminary investigation they found one suspect, who led them to the place where he had concealed his firearm. A rifle with one empty magazine and 28 live rounds were found..

‘Police officers then proceeded to Esiyembeni area where they recovered a 9mm pistol with six live rounds of ammunition and arrested a 26-year-old man.

‘Both suspects were charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and are expected to appear in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court soon,’ said Mdletshe.
