AN Empangeni woman was horrified when a man forced his way into her property on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, a 45-year-old woman, got the shock of her life when the suspect entered her flat brandishing a knife and demanding money and valuables.
Empangeni SAPS spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose said the victim, who will remain anonymous, fought back using a knife she had on hand.
A struggle ensued in which the woman was stabbed in the right shoulder and the man escaped with money and other valuables.
‘The victim had a knife in her flat and she confronted the intruder.
‘A struggle broke out during which the victim was stabbed in the right shoulder but it was not fatal and she was taken to hospital,’ said Mdlalose.

Many criminals seem to be so intent on hurting people; wounding, raping & even killing; instead of just robbing that fighting back seems to be a rational response. If more victims tended to react in this way I imagine there would be a reduction in robberies.
