XOLANI Mchunu, founder of Zibekaphi Youth Organisation, an eSikhaleni non-profit group, has urged the youth to refrain from taking drugs.
Mchunu was speaking during sport activities held at eSikhaleni TVET College Sports Ground on Saturday.
‘It is true that some of our forefathers were smoking dagga, but it was not used by young men and women. It was smoked by senior people, so it is imperative to warn our youth not to experiment with dagga, even though it has been decriminalised.

‘As an NPO we decided to stage these games over this weekend because its school holiday and most young people are sitting at home doing nothing.
‘We understand that if young people are not committed to doing something, they end up do the wrong things such as crime and drugs.
‘We have four soccer teams and three netball teams, all from around eSikhaleni area,’ he said.
Mchunu further explained that apart from this tournament, his NPO also helps needy families and young people by providing them with school requirements, and gives food parcels for elders.
‘I would also like to thank all our sponsors such as the City of uMhlathuze for their contribution,’ he said.
