Centennial celebration for Mtuba gogo

At 104 years old, Gogo Triphinah Dube can still hear and speak

CELEBRATION filled the air in eZwenelisha as family, friends, loved ones and fellow community members gathered to celebrate the birthday of 104-year-old Triphinah Dube.

To celebrate her life while she is still alive, Gogo Triphinah’s family organised a feast.

Ward 5 councillor Nondumiso Zuma attended the ceremony, along with Mtubatuba Municipal Communications Manager Mdu Mhlongo.

Mtubatuba SAPS also attended the event, with Communications Officer Captain Justice Hlabisa handing the gogo a certificate of ‘non-criminal record’.

‘At the age of 104, Gogo Triphinah can still hear and speak, and it was an honour celebrating her life with her,’ said Cllr Zuma.

Gogo Triphinah was one of the elderly eZwenelisha residents who last month received a blanket from the councillor, as part of his winter warmth campaign.

‘This was a day well spent with the Dube family, and with Ward 5 residents whom I am honoured to lead.’
