Closing the communication gap for young women

The walk and subsequent talks was organised by Future Leaders

YOUNG woman and their mothers travelled from around the province – including Zululand – to take part in the Dear Daughter #QhakazaGirl walk in Durban on the weekend.

The walk, and subsequent talks organised by Future Leaders, saw girls carrying placards saying

‘Asiwadingi amaBlesser’ (I am a child – not a wife’) and other messages..

Event patron Zanele Mbokazi said the purpose of the #DearDaughter #QhakazaGirl is to close the communication gap between older parents and guardians and the young women in their care who face a modern world with very little educational support.

Those interested in supporting the organisation, or funding educational camps for young women which will be taking place throughout the province in major townships, are invited to email prince@mirrorpr.co.za, WhatsApp 081 8461824 or follow the Facebook page DearDaughter #QhakazaGirl.
