Pedestrian killed and cyclist injured on John Ross

A PEDESTRIAN was killed and cyclist injured in two separate incidents on the John Ross at the weekend.
On Friday afternoon a man, believed to be about 25-years-old, was knocked over by a light motor vehicle while attempting to cross the John Ross near the Oilco intersection in Empangeni.
According to police on scene, the driver of the vehicle was unable to swerve or stop in time after the man ran across the road at the last minute.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by Empangeni SAPS.
Meanwhile on Saturday afternoon in Richards Bay a cyclist was knocked over on the John Ross and R619 intersection.
Reports from the scene indicate that a 42-year-old male cyclist was knocked down by a light motor vehicle.
The patient was treated on scene and transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
