New school fence for Mandela Day
A clean-up and fence fixing work party were organised for Silethukukhanya High School
SILETHUKUKHANYA High School in Khula Village enjoyed a facelift this Mandela Day as Ward 3 Councillor, Siyabonga Khumalo organised a clean-up and fence fixing work party.
After appealing to the wider community and stakeholders, Khumalo was joined by African Impact volunteers, community caregivers and representatives from the departments of Health and Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Fencing materials were sponsored by local businessman Mr Mkhwanazi.
‘We truly appreciate everything the local community is doing to help Silethukukhanya, as the department does not have much money to see to all that needs to be done in our circuit,’ said Hluhluwe Circuit Manager, Nimrod Mtshali.
Khumalo launched his 67 minutes in 2011 and has since contributed to many projects within his ward, including building houses and helping refurbish schools and crèches.
‘This work is very important, how can we sit back and do nothing while our school children don’t even have a fence around their school for safety and security?’ he said.
‘We have a very caring community whose members are willing to get stuck in and help out their own.’
