WATCH: Water wastage in Mtuba angers residents

Water service delivery remains an issue in many parts of rural uMkhanyakude District

MTUBATUBA residents are up in arms over blatant water wastage that was recently caught on camera at a water filling point in the town’s CBD.

The water truck can be seen at the filling point, with no driver in sight, as the water pours into the obviously full truck and cascades onto the ground.

The resident who filmed the video said this occurred for the 20 minutes he was in the vicinity.

Despite recent heavy rains, water service delivery remains an issue in parts of rural uMkhanyakude District, whose residents still rely on delivery from water tankers.

As such, many residents do their utmost to conserve water wherever possible, and this seemingly inconsequential wastage angered them.

uMkhanyakude District Communications Officer was contacted for comment, but none was forthcoming.
