ZULULAND Police Cluster arrested two suspects for being in possession of stolen goods.
On Sunday, police followed up on a tip off about two men who were slaughtering a cow in one of the homesteads in Mkhumbane area outside Mondlo under the Zululand District Municipality.
Police Cluster Spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, said when the police arrived at the homestead, they discovered meat lying on the floor in one of the rooms.
‘The cow was chopped into many pieces and when the police demanded answers from the suspects, they failed to account.
‘They were arrested and charged for being in possession of stolen goods. During the arrest, a knife and an axe were found at the scene. Both were taken by police as exhibits,’ she said.
Gwala added that it was unclear where the cow was stolen from, saying they were working hard to find the owner.
‘The two suspects aged between 24 and 54 years are expected to appear in Mondlo Magistrate’s Court soon, pending further police investigation,’ said Gwala.
