How to plan a child-friendly wedding

A child-friendly wedding will save at least half of the guests from having to leave early or not show up at all.
If the little people in your life – and those of your guests – are important to you, it might be worth making sure that your younger guests enjoy the wedding just as much as everyone else.
It doesn’t take much to get a child excited. Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
• Have a kiddies menu
Hamburgers, chicken nuggets and spaghetti are all-time favourites among the little ones.
Ask your caterers to include these essential items on the menu. Don’t forget about child-friendly desserts like ice cream or candyfloss.
• Set their own table
Think miniature chairs, plastic plates, sparkly, non-toxic and non-flammable table decor, and wedding favours that will keep them busy for a while. Sticker books are a great way to keep them quiet while the adults are having boring speeches, or opt for silent toys such as Lego, loom bands or arts and crafts. Hire a babysitter to sit at the kiddies’ table.
• Create a kiddies entertainment area
A jumping castle, life-sized Jenga or piñata are great ways to entertain the kids, and if all else fails, a kiddies’ movie will always do the trick.
For extra peace of mind, hire a room where the little ones can safely dose off when they’re tired. (Remember to appoint a babysitter!)
Bonus points for you if you add a baby changing station for the young moms among your guests, and even a quiet spot where she can feed her baby.
