Zululand Observer picked up a 75-run victory over Grantham Park Primary School in a friendly T20 cricket match played at Mick Kelly Park

THE team of the Zululand Observer picked up a 75-run victory over Grantham Park Primary School in a friendly T20 cricket match played at Mick Kelly Park on Friday afternoon.

The game was organised to cement a relationship between the local primary school and create new friendships.

Grantham Park won the toss and captain Kobus Wernich elected to bowl first on the artificial wicket.

The rules were simple, each bowler could only bowl two overs and batsman had to retire on 25 and could come back after the team was bowled out, with fun being the main aim of the game.

Zululand Observer reached 146/8 in their 20 overs, thanks to contributions from Neville van den Berg (40 not out), Richard Springorum (40 not out) and Orrin Singh (26 not out).

Adri Booysen was the pick of the Grantham Park attack with figures of 2/11 in 2, with fellow colleague Danielle Janse van Rensburg taking one scalp for five runs in two overs.

Grantham’s chase never really got going, with the side eventually being dismissed for 75.

Teressa Springorum top scored for her side with 16, with Nita van Rooyen ending with impressive figures of 3/4 in 2.
