IT was a great occasion yesterday (Tuesday) for Richards Bay wildlife supporter Bashee Naidu when she became the proud owner of a framed canvas depicting two black rhino.
Bashee’s name was drawn as winner of a raffle arranged by members of the ‘Rhinoceros Unanimous’ group, who in the process raised a huge amount for rhino conservation through the selling of tickets at various venues.
The stunning 1.5m x 1m canvas was sponsored by photographer Kobus du Toit of Land Lover Safaris and framed at no cost by Dawie Augustyn of Serendipity.
All the monies raised will go to The Lawrence Anthony Earth Organization, towards much-needed funding for Thabo and Ntombi, the two orphaned baby rhinos which have been relocated to Thula Thula Private Game Lodge.
‘I am absolutely thrilled at winning this wonderful prize, which will have pride of place in my new home,’ said an elated Bashee, who regularly enters and wins competitions.
