SAPS: ‘We’re hiring!’
Police Service opens up their recruitment drive for 2019 - here are all the details and requirements
The SAPS is calling on South Africans between the ages of 18 and 30 to join the Service.
Advertisements on their website and in print call for young people ‘who possess leadership skills, and regard themselves as honest, focused, highly driven and passionate about policing’ to apply.
Keen future police members will be subjected to rigorous testing including fitness, psychometric, integrity and medicals.
Once you have applied, and been accepted into the training programme, you will have to report to the 21 month-long training programme in January 2019, during which time you will earn a stipend salary of R4500.
This programme consists of three phases:
Induction – a one month appointment at a designated police station
Basic Training – at a designated SAPS academy (8 months)
Probation – After successfully completing induction and basic training, the police trainee shall be appointed as amember of the SAPS for a probation period of 12 months
How do I know if I am eligible?
You must be between the ages of 18 and 30
You must have obtained a Grade 12 (matric) certificate
You must be proficient in at least two langues, one of which must be English
You must be prepared to take the oath of office
Number one choice

The only catch?
No applicants with a criminal history, or with pending criminal charges against them, will be accepted.
Nor will those who have previously been dismissed from their work at government organisations.
