War Rooms address community concerns
Community members should participate fully in Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) War Rooms
COMMUNITY members should participate fully in Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) War Rooms, as this campaign aims to address service delivery initiatives.
This was the sentiment of the City of uMhlathuze Chief Co-ordinator for Public Participation, Siyabonga Mdluli when addressing a Ward 27 community meeting at Ngwelezana swimming pool at the weekend.
He appealed to community members to make use of the OSS, a project which was initiated by the KZN Premier’s Office and whose champion is Premier Willies Mchunu.
‘I have noted your concerns regarding the delivery of services, but it would be of great help if you were to take part in the deliberations of the War Room meetings which are held in this ward.
‘It is at those meetings that challenges such as lack of housing, electricity, toilets, those in need of birth certificates, identity documents and people living with disabilities are attended to.
‘This forum works as a mini government that seeks to address community concerns as they arise.
‘This is a structure comprising all government departments and other stakeholders such as the traditional leaders, members of the police services, church-based organisations, community development workers, ward committees and ward councillors,’ he said.
Mdluli also announced the Youth Day (June 16) sport event to be held at the KwaNsumpa sport grounds in Ngwelezana, urging the youth who are active in sport to make themselves available on the day.
