Cattle pose problems for residents
With plenty of rain having fallen over the past months, residents believe there is no need for herders to bring their cattle into town
CATTLE encroaching on streets and pavements in the heart of Meerensee continue to present problems for residents.
On Sunday afternoon, a herd calmly grazed in the main shopping area around Angler’s Rod and Krewelkring roads, endangering traffic and depositing manure.
With plenty of rain having fallen over the past months, residents believe there is no need for herders to bring their cattle into town.

A month ago, Richards Bay motorcyclist Arnold van Eck sustained serious injuries after a collision with a dark-coloured cow after sunset in Kolstertkring.
Stray cattle have also led to altercations between owners and residents, who are calling on the municipality to enforce the relevant bylaws before any more incidents occur.
