THE closure of Qondindlela High School, under Mthonjaneni Municipality is causing much concern to the entire Ubuka Traditional Authority.
According to sources close to the school, learners are sitting at home, following the intervention of the Department of Education to suspend all learning activities.
It is alleged that the school was shut down after a fight involving two boys over girlfriends.
Disgruntled parent Nombuso Xulu has accused the school teachers and the Department of Education of denying children their right to learn.

She also lashed out at educators for failing to maintain order and discipline at the school.
‘Not so long ago some of them were responsible for a protest that erupted at the school, forcing the school principal to resign.
‘Suspending teaching and learning activities is a crime. It infringes on the constitutional rights of innocent children,’ said Xulu.
One teacher who spoke on condition of anonymity said all classes were suspended after one of the suspended learners stoned the acting principal’s car.
‘We have had numerous meetings with all relevant stakeholders, but a learner, who is suspected of stoning the acting principal’s car, denies the allegation levelled against him.
‘The last resolution was to suspend all learning activities until the culprit is found, as we feared for our lives.
‘The matter has drawn the attention of the local iNkosi, Phiwayinkosi Biyela who is expected to attend another meeting on Tuesday,’ said the teacher.
‘I am meeting all relevant stakeholders on Tuesday next week to get a solution so that learning and teaching can resume quickly,’ said iNkosi Biyela.
District Director of Education of King Cetshwayo Municipality, David Chonco has refuted claims of the school closure.
‘It is not true that there is no learning and teaching at the school, but we are aware of the learners who were suspended following the stoning of the acting principal’s car.’
