BAYEDE Mzobe was the man with the jet shoes, motoring home to claim the 2018 Tronox Marathon title with a time of 2 hours, 46 minutes and 33 seconds on Sunday morning at Addison Park.
The talented road runner beat runner-up Samson Mnyango by a mere 10 seconds.
More than 700 road pounders took to Empangeni’s streets to take on the annual Tronox Marathon, Sanlam Half Marathon and UAC 10km and 5km run/walk.

uMhlathuze Athletics Club runner Nomcebo Mthethwa clinched the women’s 21.1km title in 1.26.06.
‘I am not too happy with my time, but knowing how hard and challenging the route wa,s I can accept a slower time,’ said Mthethwa.
Athletes travelled from far and wide to compete in the last local Comrades Marathon qualifier.
