Richards Bay residents’ water woes

Residents are urged to take meter readings daily and direct all queries to the relevant municipal department

RESIDENTS of Bream Hill in Meerensee can breathe a sigh of relief now that full water pressure has been restored after a week of little to no water.

Trouble first started 10 days ago when the first pipe burst, causing a major leak and water to be cut off to residents.

In the days following, six pipe bursts occurred at various sections of the pipe feeding Bream Hill.

‘Residents became irate as they were left without water while all these pipe bursts were being dealt with,’ said Ward Councillor Christo Botha.

The residents called a meeting with Botha at which they were given a chance to ask questions and raise concerns.

The City of uMhlathuze was contacted for comment but no reply was received at the time of going to print.
