City of uMhlathuze determined to proceed with evictions

Ncalane claims that Landman's communication to club members, informing them of the High Court judgement, is a 'deliberate distortion of the facts presented by the Durban High Court'

IN complete contrast to the MCB and ZYC’s celebrations of yesterday’s High Court judgement, the City of uMhlathuze is forging ahead with eviction proceedings.

‘The City of uMhlathuze council resolution to evict Richards Bay sports clubs after they did not sign new leases compelling them to pay market related rental rates, will be effected after the Durban High Court yesterday did not grant the interdict prohibiting council from evicting the clubs pending the application for the review of the resolution,’ said City of uMhlathuze Communications Manager Mdu Ncalane.

He said the City undertook not to evict the applicants unlawfully, and said the municipality would not evict them without following the normal legal processes.

Ncalane claims that Landman’s communication to club members, informing them of the High Court judgement, is a ‘deliberate distortion of the facts presented by the Durban High Court’.

‘The City of uMhlathuze confirms that it will proceed with summons to these sports clubs, contrary to the misbelief by the circulating communiqué.’
