Suspects found with unlicensed firearms in eSikhaleni

A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY operation conducted at eSikhaleni on Tuesday resulted in the arrests of three wanted men.

The trio, aged between 19 and 32, are believed to have been involved a number of house and business robberies in and around eSikhaleni and Richards Bay.

Police followed up on information about the gang being in possession of illegal firearms.

Police stormed a house in eSikhaleni where they conducted a search and found the men in possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Cellphones believed to have been taken during house robberies were also found in the house.

All three were arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa encouraged community members to continue providing SAPS with information to root out crime in their areas.

‘Our detective members and Crime Intelligence unit will work around the clock to check if these suspects are wanted for other crimes in the province.

‘I also encourage the community to always work together with the police in the fight against crime by providing valuable information about criminal activities in their areas.

‘Let us not hide criminals but let’s expose them to the police.

‘The recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were used in any other crimes,’ he said.
