Youth help the destitute in Dumisani Makhaye Village

Dumisani Makhaye Village youth making a difference

AS part of commemorating the life of South Africa’s first democratically elected President Nelson Mandela, Dumisani Makhaye Village Youth visited the Mfeka family, to donate food parcels.

The family is one of the destitute in the area, which was identified by the youth as part of making a difference in people’s lives.

Dumisani Makhaye Village Youth Chairperson Mzamo Myeni said the food parcel donation was what they could afford, as the youth, to bring a smile to the destitute Mfeka family.

‘As leaders of the society, it is our duty to promote social cohesion, within the boundaries of our ward and make sure that we visit our neighbouring families in honour of the global icon Madiba himself.

‘This is not a once off exercise. We will continue uplifting the lives of our communities, should we get more assistance from the business sector,’ he said.

An elated mama Phelele Mfeka could not contain her happiness, when she was presented with food parcel.

‘Today my family will have something to eat, unlike other days when we were forced to go hungry. We are grateful to the youth of Dumisani Makhaye Village for making this donation possible,’ she said.
