Dream season opener for Unizul
Unizul defeat a tired eShowe team in Third Division rugby opening game
UNIZUL came out firing on all cylinders in their opening Third Division rugby Stewart Shield match against eShowe, in eShowe on Friday night.
The team returned home with a 32-8 win much to the delight of a good contingent of their travelling spectators.
The score was a respectable 13-3 at half time with Unizul scoring a converted try and eShowe replying with a penalty.
The home team, which had hoped to carry their Bozas Cup performance into the Shield game, will be disappointed with the result.
In the second half eShowe managed to pull back five points with an unconverted try, but were totally outplayed for most of the second half.
eShowe’s lack of fitness was their ‘Achilles’s heel’ in the second half and they failed to keep up the pace as Unizul went on the rampage and ran in three tries.
Unizul scored at will despite a tenacious but tired eShowe defence which tried desperately to stop the fast-paced Unizul team.
