POLICE officers attended a prayer meeting at the Ngwelezana Presbyterian Church last Friday to seek God’s intervention and protection as the Easter holidays is fast approaching.

The King Cetshwayo cluster officers believe they need God’s blessing to successfully fight crime.

Captain Wessy Masinga of the Empangeni SAPS finance department said the main aim of the prayer meeting was to ask God to protect them during the Easter holidays as they venture out to ensure the safety of communities.

‘We do such a prayer annually, with all police stations under the King Cetshwayo cluster coming together.

The prayer meeting was also attended by iNkosi Nsikayezwe Cebekhulu, City of uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Silondile Mkhize and Councillor Madlinyoka Ntanzi.

Mkhize said police work under difficult conditions owing to the high number of criminal activities in the country.

‘Looking at the high number of incidents in which officers are attacked while on duty, shows that indeed we need God’s intervention.’
