Unizulu causes major upset

Basketball league produces surprise results

IT was time for teams to put up or shut up in the third round of the Bounce Basketball League played at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Conquerors breezed past NRBreeze 86-43 in the first game of the day.

Defending champions New Money met their match against Unizulu, bowing out 52-57 in a hotly contested game.

The students were pumped up after dishing out a basketball lesson to their opponents who have been dominating the league for the past three seasons.

The Legends sneaked in 58-55 against Panda Slayers in an action-packed encounter that saw the lead change many times.

Teams will be back in action for round four at the University of Zululand’s main campus on Sunday afternoon.

New Money will look to bounce back when they take on Panda Slayers at 2.30pm, with The Legends seeking back-to-back victories against NRBreeze at 3.30pm.

The day’s action will conclude with Unizulu squaring up to Conquerors at 4.30pm.
