IT was a double sigh of relief for second time mother Andile Gumbi (29) who gave birth to two healthy baby boys on Friday at Melomed Hospital.
The birth of her twins was a special one for both her and the hospital as their arrival marked the first twins to be born at the new medical facility.
Gumbi told the Zululand Observer that she had expected to give birth last week Tuesday but ended up going into labour only on Friday.
‘I am just happy that they are healthy.
‘I only saw them when I was out of theatre and it was a relief holding them,’ she said.
‘There wasn’t that much of a difference with having a single baby and having twins. Obviously certain things such as the weight is different, as you are carrying two babies instead of one, but other than that pregnancy was normal,’ she said.
The Empangeni mother of a three-year-old said she will definitely have her hands full now with her three small children.
