Mthandeni brings his journey to the stage
Catch The Journey-Uhambo at Empangeni Civic Centre in Empangeni on Friday
HOMEGROWN actor and director, Mthandeni Mbambo, is bringing his past experiences to the stage in a theatre production, The Journey – Uhambo in Empangeni on Friday (tomorrow).
This play, written and directed by Mbambo, will open at the Empangeni Civic Centre at 7pm.
He is expected to narrate about his personal and professional life, and also expose some of the interesting encounters he has faced as an artist.
The play narrative will be intertwined with a music and dance.
‘The audience will get their money’s worth – the show will provide drama, music, humour and dance.
‘It is a story of a young Zululand boy and his journey through life. The play will also feature some of my experiences as an artist and some colourful personalities I have met over the years, as well as bring to life the struggles and challenges artists are faced with,’ said Mbambo.
This production is presented by Mthaphoqa Productions in a joint venture with the King Cetshwayo Theatrical Society and other structures.
Mbambo is a well-known actor, dancer musician and a theatre director from humble beginnings in Ngwelezana, Empangeni.
He is definitely no stranger to theatre and known for working with the best in the industry.
In his overflowing bucket of accomplishments he has worked in many TV and theatre productions such as the musical Afrika My Home, where he played alongside Mondli Makhoba of Uzalo and Abdul Khoza of the Mzansi Magic telenovela, The Road.
He has also been part of Mbongeni Ngema’s Sarafina, and two Zululand productions, Death of the Emperor Shaka and The Devil’s Autograph.
Mbambo has also made an appearance on the Mzansi Magic telenovela, Rockville, and is part of the call in cast of the SABC 1 soapie, Uzalo.
