THE ten remaining residents at the Jabulani Centre are overjoyed with the news that the facility will not be closing down at the end of the month.
The centre, situated along the R34 in the Nkwalini Valley was in the verge of closing down owing to financial constraints the Association of the Physical Challenged faced.

‘Our wish now is that the City of uMhlathuze buy the property to keep it operational,’ said Sithole.
KZN Chairperson of the Association of the Physical Challenged, Jane Chennells, said at a meeting on Thursday with all relevant stakeholders such as the Premier’s office, municipality, the Legal Resource Centre and the United States of America Consul General Sherry Sykes, the municipality committed itself to take over the running of the facility as temporary relief.
‘The association had no option but to decide on closing the centre as it could no longer pay for electricity, water and security.
‘The municipality promised to speed up the process of housing for the remaining residents, but also showed interest in taking over and renovating the centre where disabled people could do their handwork,’ Chennells said.
