New information about children’s fatal shooting incident
Third child witnessed shooting - father 'ruled out' as suspect

THE fatal double shooting of two children aged eleven and two, which occurred at Macekane Reserve at the weekend, was reportedly witnessed by a third child – a nine-year-old girl.
This according to a man who lives next to the house in which the terrible incident occurred late on Saturday night.
He spoke to the ZO exclusively on condition that he not be named, and said that when the boy (11) shot dead his sister (2), a young girl fled the house and came to his homestead, crying and distressed.

The boy allegedly then turned the gun on himself before help could arrive.
The two deceased children were home alone when the boy shot dead his sister with a handgun.
Their father, a prison warder, had left the children alone to fetch his wife from working a night shift.
‘She was crying and very upset, we didn’t know what to do,’ the neighbour said.
‘We were very shocked, and we did not know what to do.’
‘No foul play suspected’
Police, meanwhile have quashed rumours of possible foul play, confirming that the boy was the gunman.
‘We have ruled out the father as a suspect following a forensic investigation,’ said King Cetshwayo Cluster Police spokesperson, Capt Mbongeni Mdlalose.
‘A docket will now be sent to the Public Prosecutor for a decision on whether he face charges in accordance with the Firearms Control Act,’ said Mdlalose.
