Taking water saving initiatives on the road

High school learners were the target of a recent water-saving campaign

A MAJOR drought awareness initiative took Mhlathuze Water on a roadshow, visiting numerous schools from Empangeni to Jozini.

In partnership with Ukhozi FM, the back-to-school campaign saw both organisations encourage and motivate learners and teachers to understand and support the critical role education plays in the lives of future leaders.

Emphasis was placed on water saving, especially as the drought is not yet over.

Benefiting from the joint effort were, among others, Dover Combined School and Ziphozonke High School in Empangeni, Snethesekile High School in Jozini and Mabhuqini High School in Nkandla.

‘The radio station values and appreciates this collaboration with Mhlathuze Water, which is the station’s printing partner on the Ukhozi FM calendars,’ said Ukhozi FM Marketing Manager, Sbongi Ngcobo.

‘This is indeed a mutually beneficial relationship that we hope to see grow from strength to strength.’

Echoing these sentiments, Mhlathuze Water CEO, Mthokozisi Duze said every attempt to save every drop of water must be intensified.

‘It is against this backdrop that the utility will enter into such partnerships with key stakeholders that have large footprints, ensuring the message on water conservation is continuously reinforced in our user communities.’
