The largest entry so far has been 425

THE 5km parkrun at the Zululand Multi Sport Club (ZMSC) on Saturday mornings has seen a good growth in entries, with an average of 250 runners tackling the course.

The largest entry so far has been 425.

Athletes complete a 5km route which starts at the ZMSC and heads down a gravel road past the Bay Hall into a single track forest trail, which loops back onto the gravel road heading back past the Bay Hall.

Athletes then run across the bridge to Pelican Island and complete another loop before returning to the club.

The parkrun is free and starts at 7am. One must register online for a unique bar code, which allows individuals to see their times and ranking in their age group in the country.

The mission of the event is to provide free, timed 5km runs in every community in the country to promote fitness.

To register go to www.parkrun.co.za.
