MTUBATUBA Municipality has undertaken to tighten security measures after an armed robbery at the municipality’s premises on Monday.
Mtubatuba Mayor Velengenkosi Gumede said four armed suspects stormed the premises and disarmed one of their security guards.
‘This occurred after the arrival of the cash-in-transit vehicle, which had come to collect money at our offices.
‘The robbers threatened the cash-in-transit guards at gunpoint before escaping with a large amount of money,’ said Gumede.

‘We are planning to install CCTV cameras around the town to beef up security.’
Police spokesman, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, said a case of armed robbery is under investigation.
‘No injuries were reported during the incident and no shots were fired.
