Drowning Richards Bay woman rescued by good samaritan

A member of the public who is a first aider immediately went to her rescue

A 27-year-old woman was earlier this afternoon (Saturday) rushed to Ngwelezana Hospital in a critical condition after a non-fatal drowning at Richards Bay’s Bay Hall area.

The incident occurred just before 1pm.

A member of the public who is a first aider immediately went to her rescue.

After pulling her out of the water pulse-less and breathless, he started performing CPR while a bystander notified the authorities.

They in turn notified ICE Medical Rescue whose paramedics took over treatment.

Once the woman had been stabilised, she was rushed to hospital for further medical treatment.
