MEMBERS of the KZN Legislature, led by MEC for Arts and Culture Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi, visited various schools in the King Cetshwayo District as part of the 2018 School Functionality visits.
The three-day tour began at eNtembeni High School, Makhaseni Primary School and Ndundulu Primary School.
On the second day Ekuphiweni High School and Dr SJ Baloyi High School in Nkandla were visited, followed by Sabokwe Primary School and Qhamuka High School on day three.
The group was accompanied by King Cetshwayo District Mayor Nonhle Mkhulisi, Deputy Mayor AH Mthembu, District Speaker KER Hadebe and Chief Whip IT Gcabashe, as well as uMhlathuze Mayor Mdu Mhlongo and Deputy Mayor SG Mkhize.
The schools functionality monitoring programme is part of the legislature’s oversight exercise in which all members visit public schools throughout the province to assess their state of readiness at the commencement of the academic year and gain first-hand information on the challenges that public schools face.
