Home sweet home for pensioner Kenneth

Pensioner living at the Richards Bay SPCA premises receives donation of new home

A GENEROUS anonymous donor has stepped up and covered the costs of installing a new Wendy house for pensioner Kenneth Leggo, who has been living on the Richards Bay SPCA premises since last year.

The 75-year-old fell on tough times last year and was living in his vehicle with his pet dog when he was rescued by Richards Bay SPCA and offered a place to stay.

Soon after the appeal was published last week, a donor contacted the SPCA and pledged to have a brand new Wendy house erected.

SPCA volunteer Elizabeth Cordiglia said they were happy with the quick response.

‘The donor contacted us, asked to arrange quotes for the house and paid an amount of R15 500 to cover all the costs involved.

‘This gesture has made a huge difference in Kenneth’s life.

‘He is overwhelmed with joy and officially moved into the building on Tuesday.’

Leggo loves animals and lends a helping hand around the SPCA with maintenance, repairs and working in second-hand shops.
