THE trial date for the case against alleged rhino poaching kingpin Dumisani Gwala and his co-accused has been set for 22 May in the Ngwelezana Regional Court.
Gwala has made headlines, both nationally and internationally, after his arrest in 2014 during an undercover sting operation in which he was found to be dealing in rhino horn.

His case has been plagued by continuous delays, postponed 20 times since the first court appearance in 2015.
Gwala, together with co-accused Aubrey Dlamini and Wiseman Makeba, face a combined 10 charges relating to the illegal purchase and possession of rhino horn, as well as resisting arrest.
