Six people died in a collision between a minibus taxi and Mercedes-Benz on the R66 in Ulundi

SIX people died in a collision between a minibus taxi and Mercedes-Benz on the R66 in Ulundi last Friday.

It is believed the taxi was fully loaded with passengers and heading towards Nongoma.

Police spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala said four females and two males were declared dead at the scene.

‘Injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention,’she said.

‘It appeared that the taxi rolled several times before coming to a rest against a fence.

Gwala said it was still unclear how the accident occurred, but law enforcement agencies are investigating.
