EMPANGENI’S Sanlam Centre fell victim to it’s third jewellery heist this year when NWJ Jewellers was robbed on Tuesday morning.
This was also the second time the store had been robbed this year.
Four robbers, one armed with a firearm, entered the shop and smashed the glass casings and grabbed an undisclosed number of jewellery items.
On 13 January this year NWJ was hit in similar fashion when five suspects entered the store, brandishing firearms and wielding hammers.

In July American Swiss was also robbed.
When the ZO broke the news online, some comments questioned the security arrangements at the centre.
But Sabelo Mvubu wrote: ‘I don’t understand why people are complaining about the shopping centre’s security.
‘There’s nothing we can do if it is an armed robbery. We (security) don’t carry guns, so it’s better to take cover or else your life will be in danger.
‘People will always put the blame on the security. I was one of the security officers at Sanlam Centre, just recently left. I know what I’m talking about.’
Luleka Gqibitole wrote: ‘For the third time now! It’s too much for our brothers and sisters who work there.’
King Cetshwayo police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, told the ZO that they had no new leads regarding the incident.
