King Cetshwayo District ready to host SALGA Games

The public has been urged to support the event

THE King Cetshwayo District is geared to host about 5 000 participants from across the province who will descend on Richards Bay this week for the 2017 SALGA Games.

‘We expect teams from every district and metro to compete in 16 sport codes.

‘Our playing venues have been properly assessed and we are confident that this will be one of the most successfully games to date,’ District Mayor Nonhle Mkhulisi said at a media briefing at the Bayshore Inn on Thursday.

She said the local organising committee has been monitoring the work of various entities involved to ensure that plans and processes have been completed and are in place.

These include disaster management, risk and communications plans.

The games will commence with an opening ceremony on Thursday at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex and will end on Sunday.

The public has been urged to support the event.
