Police geared for the festive season
A plan of action is in place to ensure residents' safe during the holidays
LOCAL police say criminals will have nowhere to hide this festive season.
According to King Cetshwayo police cluster spokesperson, Capt Mbongeni Mdlalose, police officials will not only target crime hots pots and shopping areas, but will be working closely with the Crime Intelligent Unit to limit criminal activities.
The plan of action include increased police visibility, regular roadblocks, crime squad patrols and stop-search operations.
‘Police will be deployed all over the area. Roadblocks will be set up at all major entry and exit points of our towns,’ Mdlalose said.
He added the plan included increasing manpower and mobilise police officers dressed in civilian clothing.
They will be working closely with other government services such as traffic officers and emergency services.
‘The visibility of police members will certainly make a difference. The main focus of the operation is the safety of citizens.’
Mdlalose also requested residents to be vigilant, especially when going to banks, and should avoid carrying large amounts of money.
He urged community members to report any crime activities in their areas to the police
