Zwart leaves huge gap in Zululand cricket
Zwart owned the Richards Bay Indoor Cricket Arena and has now sold it to take over a new arena in Cape Town, with the hopes of growing the sport in the Western Province region
CRICKETERS, coaching staff, management and mates attended the farewell function for cricketing stalwart Eugene Zwart, who will jet-off to Cape Town on 5 December for a better business opportunity.
Zwart, who arrived on Zululand’s doorstep in 2000, will not only leave a major hole in Zululand cricket, but also a massive gap in the indoor arena as well.
Zwart owned the Richards Bay Indoor Cricket Arena and has now sold it to take over a new arena in Cape Town, with the hopes of growing the sport in the Western Province region.
Over the 17 years, the Richards Bay resident represented a number of teams, both indoor and outdoor at provincial and national level.

What makes his achievements more impressive, is the fact that he captained the majority of the sides in which he played.
On the outdoor scene, Eugene played for Empangeni Cricket Club (2000-2017), uThungulu/King Cetshwayo (2001-2017), KZN Rural Coastals (2002-2017) and SA Rural XI (six times).
Taking his cricket game indoors, he represented the KZN North team at all age group levels (2000-2017), the South African U25 to Open teams (2000-2017) and played in the Over 30 World Cup in 2013 and Over 35 World Cup in 2016.
His experience, knowledge and skill will definitely be missed next year.
