Richards Bay hijackings alert
Motorists urged to be more cautious as we approach the festive season

RICHARDS Bay police urge motorists to be on the alert after two hijackings were reported in Birdswood and Brackenham last week.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira, a Brackenham resident was hijacked outside his property at about 9pm on Saturday.
The suspects drove with the victim to the Enseleni bridge, where they dropped him off.
The vehicle was later recovered in the Dondotha area.

‘On Friday afternoon a motorcyclist was robbed in the bushes in Birdswood at about 3.20pm.
‘He was approached by two unknown men who threatened him at gunpoint before taking his motorbike,’ said Capt Ferreira.
‘We are approaching a busy time of the year and urge motorists to be more cautious when travelling and also when entering or exiting their properties.
‘When approaching your driveway or where you will be parking your car, be aware of any strange vehicles or people in the vicinity.
‘If you are a victim of a hijacking, do not try to get away with your ‘movable’ valuables such as your cell phone, wallet or handbag. Leave everything and focus on getting away alive,’ said Ferreira.
