Christo Riekert received his fourth dan black belt grading at the WSKF World Championships in Japan

SENSEI Christo Riekert from the Christo Riekert Karate Institute in Empangeni, recently reached another milestone in his 28-year career.

He travelled to Tokyo to attend the 11th World Shotokan Karate Federation (WSKF) seminar and WSKF World Championships.

Riekert and four other members represented South Africa at the World Championships.

The Zululander received his fourth dan black belt grading by WSKF International Japanese Chief Instructor, Sensei Hitoshi Kasuya (8th dan).

‘I have been doing karate for 28 years and still train very hard to ensure that I just give the best to my students.

‘It takes hard work, lots of dedication and commitment to reach one’s goals,’ says Riekert.

‘Thanks and appreciation must go to South Africa’s WSKF Chief Instructor Sensei Mike Dukas, South Africa’s Chief Technical Director Sensei Bryan Dukas, WSKF Vice Chief Instructor Sensei Marius Jordaan and my loving family and students, as well as KZN Co-Karate Instructors for all the support and for believing in me.’

Sensei Kobus Riekert from the Kobus Riekert Karate Institute was awarded his second dan black belt on 26 October.
