Co-operative women sew their way to success
These ladies make uniforms for Bajabulile Primary School learners
AFTER struggling for years and having to use old and outdated sewing machines, members of the Kungomusa Cooperate received a major boost on Friday.
In a special handover at Bajabulile Primary School, the female-owned cooperative received sewing machines and an embroidery table and instruments, courtesy of Foskor.
Supported by ward 16 Counsellor Thami Phahla, the team went through a donor application process which they submitted to Foskor.

These ladies make uniforms for Bajabulile Primary School learners and use the initiative to put food on the table.
‘These machines will help our business and ensure we continue to earn an income. We depend on making these uniforms for a living,’ said group leader Thandi Mkhize.
Phahla applauded the ladies for their perseverance.
He said their dedication to make a living by starting their business, which also supports the school in the ward, must serve as an example and encourage young people to do the same.
‘This donation will go a long way towards helping the cooperative grow and generate more revenue, create more employment opportunities and also provide an opportunity for the ladies to pass on their experience and skills to young people in our ward,’ said Phahla.
