THE Nhlabosini Reserve community has voiced displeasure at what they described as a lack of service delivery in their area.
During a War Room meeting for ward 10 held last week, community members expressed their concern about the non-delivery of electricity supply in their households.
According to ward Councillor Skhumbuzo Mthethwa, about 150 houses are without electricity despite the uMfolozi Municipality’s commitment to electrify the area many years ago.
‘We have been waiting for electricity for four years now.
We were promised this service would be delivered to us, but nothing has happened.
We submitted all the paperwork needed last year, including the list of families whose houses were without electricity, but there has been no response from the municipality to date,’ Mthethwa said.
‘We don’t know what our sins are and we are not the only ones.
We know that other areas such as Mendu, Gegede, Mvamanzi and Matholeni are also watching their neighbours putting on lights while they remain in the dark.’
Mthethwa also raised his concern about the non-attendance of municipal officials and senior leadership at the community meeting, despite being invited.
The municipality’s Communication Officer Philani Khumalo declined to comment.
