IT’S so sad how, as women, we are subjected to some sort of abuse from men every day, and some of these men are not even aware of what they are doing.
From the time we leave the comfort of our homes, one must think about which type of male we will bump into.
From the men with whom we ride in public transport, work with, the construction workers, to the group of guys sitting at the back of a bakkie.
Today I got off work, took an umbrella and walked to the taxis. On my way there, a guy forcefully decided we were going to walk under the same umbrella.
He kept on making silly remarks, but I kept quiet and he eventually gave up.
I got into the taxi and sat in front because I really didn’t want to be disturbed.
The taxi filled up with two guys sitting behind me. One of them tapped me on my shoulder, so I turned and he looked at his friend, they smiled at each other and he told me to turn back.
Without a word I got back to my business, which was my phone.
Would they have done this if it was another male?
I shouldn’t be put in a position to discipline someone else’s child, let alone a grown man.
That’s where the problem starts, when people don’t see the need to educate and discipline themselves.
I’m not saying all men are like that, but there are too many of them that feel entitled.
And no, I’m not upset, it just got me thinking.
Fellow brothers please respect us.
