Singh spent the last 10 years as a Hindu Priest and spiritual leader, providing a service of guidance counselling to the youth and married couples

KNOW for his humility and love for people, Pundit Kumar Singh will be dearly missed by the community of Richards Bay.

Singh spent the last 10 years as a Hindu Priest and spiritual leader, providing a service of guidance counselling to the youth and married couples.

Born on 5 January 1945, he was as the eldest of five children to his proud Clairwood, Durban-based parents.

He completed his tertiary education in Durban and on 10 December 1967 he married Maya and they settled in Zululand as a young couple, raising their family of four sons and a daughter.

Mr Singh worked in the printing and tacho graph industry in the early 1970’s before going into the motor car and furniture trade.

He joined local politics post 1994 and was an executive member of the ISKON Richards Bay Group and Public Relations Officer for the Umhlathuze Hindu Development Committee.

He dedicated his life to serving the community, and family and friends took centre stage in his life.

Humility and simplicity were his greatest assets and he will be remembered as a loving husband of 50 years, an always present and guiding father and proudest grandfather who doted over his 15 grandchildren at every opportunity.

The funeral service of Mr Singh will be held on Saturday, 11 November at 8 Beech Fern street in Brackenham from 9am to 11am.
