Bonsai workshop not to be missed

The workshop is being presented by a veteran bonsai enthusiast from Durban

THE Zululand Bonsai Society will on Saturday hold an exciting workshop to be presented by veteran bonsai enthusiast Shaun Murphy, who has been intricately involved in this art form for the past 40 years.

The workshop is open to all, from budding bonsai enthusiasts to those who have spent many years learning and practicing the art form.

Based in Durban’s Upper Highway Area, Shaun has such a large collection of bonsai trees that he designed and built his own bonsai garden.

Dubbed ‘Mr Miyagi’, Shaun is an old hand and has given many demonstrations at workshops around the country.

He is now bringing his expert knowledge to Zululand.

Anyone wanting to delve into the art of bonsai for the first time, or for those wanting to increase their knowledge, the workshop is a must.

It will be held from 8.30am to 4pm on Saturday (10 November) at the NSRI base in Meerensee.

Booking is essential as space is limited.

Tickets cost R140 per person for members of the Zululand Bonsai Society, or R180 for non-members.

Ticket prices include tea and a light lunch.

A bonsai tree will be raffled, and various tools and implements will be on sale.

To book your space, contact Ronnie Gericke on 083 4272213 or ronnie.gericke1@gmail.com.
