Big punch-up in Durban for local boxers
Two heavyweight boxers from the Freddie 'Rafferty' Horn Boxing Club in Meerensee will be throwing punches in a tournament at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban on Saturday
PETRUS Cilliers will be making his professional debu, when he locks horns with Jayden Matthew in a six round affair.
Matthew’s seven fight record is like a roller-coaster, which gives Cilliers a chance.
Josh Pretorius, on the other hand, made his professional debut in a tournament at Sibiya Casino, where he lost on points.
He will be looking to turn this result around when he takes on newcomer Moses Bila in a four round bout.
Weigh-in is scheduled for Friday, with the tournament taking place on Saturday.
‘Taking over from my dad Freddie Rafferty has been challenging, as we used to work hand in hand,’ said Freddie Horn Junior.
‘But I have always loved working with the athletes at the club.
‘We are building champions, just the way that my dad would have wanted it and are reviving boxing in Richards Bay.’
